Marianas Open set for April 30

On Sunday, April 30, at the Father Duenas Memorial School Phoenix Center, Guam will feature a world-class tournament of elite competitors for the premier and longest running Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament in the Pacific — the Marianas Open MMXVII.

“This is the premier event because it is the kind of tournament that has attracted world renown competitors, like Felipe Pena, and no other has produced this much money in the Pacific,” said Steve Shimizu, owner of the Marianas Open, “Now, people come to us — we don’t look for athletes like before. It’s getting bigger and bigger, and we’re putting Guam on the map.”

Guam’s longest-running and most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament, the Marianas Open, will take center stage this Sunday morning at the Father Duenas Memorial School Phoenix Center. Brackets are promised to be loaded with an elite core of grappling practitioners from around the world including Brazil, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Japan, the mainland U.S.A, and our beautiful island of Guam. With doors scheduled to open next Sunday April 30th 8 a.m., hundreds of grapplers will be scattered throughout many draws.
